Ten cars delivered to Abingdon for our Motor Vehicle students

26th May 2022

Ten cars destined for the scrap yard found a new home at our Abingdon campus last week thanks to a new partnership with Thames Valley Police and Egertons Recovery.

The cars are an exciting opportunity for engineering and mechanics students to work on different makes, models and ages of car 鈥 exactly the kind of knowledge and experience that employers are looking for.

The cars have all been seized by Thames Valley Police and have been left unclaimed by their owners. Previously, they would have been scrapped immediately but instead they will be helping our students take their first steps onto the career ladder.

At the end of term Egertons Recovery will take them to be scrapped and a new batch of cars will take their place.

Curriculum Manager, Samantha Borret, said:

鈥淲e are thrilled to be able to receive this support from Thames Valley Police and Egertons recovery. This opportunity will allow students to learn and practice their mechanical skills on a variety of different makes and models of cars and vehicles. This will give them a strong base of knowledge to take into their careers and also benefit the local economy.鈥

Thames Valley Police hope that this will be the first of many such partnerships across the force.
