Recently, Brid Muldoon, Curriculum Manager for Oxfordshire Adult Learning, achieved an extraordinary milestone by completing the demanding trek to Everest Base Camp. Starting from Lukla, the route took Brid across steep mountain trails, suspension bridges, and traditional Sherpa villages, with unforgettable views of Himalayan peaks including Ama Dablam and Lhotse.

After several days of acclimatising and trekking through rugged, high-altitude terrain, Brid reached Base Camp, standing at an impressive 5,364 metres. The return journey through the Khumbu region provided a chance to take in the breathtaking scenery and reflect on the scale of the achievement.

Brid expressed her heartfelt thanks to the OAL team for their warm send-off and generous support. Reflecting on the experience, she described the challenge as “everything expected and more,” and shared:
“As a long-distance walker, a trek to Everest Base Camp was the ultimate challenge, demanding strength, patience, and resilience as I climbed through thin air, rugged terrain, and some of the most breathtaking landscapes on Earth.”
Brid’s accomplishment is a powerful example of resilience, determination, and stepping beyond comfort zones - the very essence of what it means to Be You. Be Extraordinary. The College is incredibly proud to celebrate this inspiring achievement.
