This
afternoon, Ҵý welcomed local MP, Robert Courts to
visit their Witney Campus.
The Witney Campus has recently undergone significant transformations, with large investments in its facilities producing first-rate classrooms, workshops, studios and other specialist buildings. The College were delighted to welcome Robert Courts back to see these improvements.
Robert Courts began his visit in the Holloway Building, where he met with students from one of the Fast Forward classes; a supportive full-time course designed for young people who may need additional support determining their next steps. Students welcomed Robert Courts as he observed one of their lessons, with many sharing their personal college experience and passion for their subject. Robert Courts later paid a visit to the College’s £2m innovative Construction Skills Centre, where many of our students were hard at work in the workshop.
Robert Courts has represented Witney as their Member of Parliament since October 2016 and recently served as the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Transport. Since elected, Robert Courts has regularly shown his support for the College. In May 2019, Robert opened the Livestock Technology Centre at the Common Leys Farm Campus. He has since attended their Annual Country Fair with family.
Following his visit, Robert Courts kindly shared the following about his trip:
“It was a pleasure to visit Abingdon & Witney College. I am always delighted to support the College’s excellent work and celebrate their passion for further education and skills.
The vocational education offered by Abingdon & Witney College is vital because it gives young people across West Oxfordshire the skills they need for the world of work, and provides them with support and learning to ensure they can achieve good jobs. I enjoyed speaking with students at the College’s Witney campus to hear directly about how young people in our area are benefitting from the learning and apprenticeship opportunities they have on offer.”
