Mechatronics maintenance technicians carry out a broad range of activities which may include installation, testing, fault finding, rectification, modifications and the on-going planned maintenance of complex automated equipment. This requires the application of a blend of skills, knowledge and occupational behaviours across the electrical, electronic, mechanical, fluid power and control systems disciplines.
Duration:

鈥 24 months practical training period, plus 6 months for End Point Assessment

Delivery model:

鈥 Work-based training with your employer

鈥 Day release during term time (approximately 36 days per year, over two years)

鈥 Regular meetings with your training coordinator to monitor progress and well-being

鈥 Apprentices will need to complete a minimum of 744 hours of off-the-job training during their apprenticeship

鈥 Engineering materials and consumables, their structure, properties and characteristics, how and why engineering materials can fail

鈥 Engineering standards and regulations requiring compliance in the engineering workplace

鈥 Types of engineering drawings and diagrams and their purpose

鈥 Data analysis principles used to identify trends and issues impacting operational performance

What next?
The apprentice can progress to complete to complete higher-level qualifications within the industry.
Entry criteria
Applicants are required to have A*- B / 9 - 5 in Maths and A*- C / 9 - 4 English, or equivalent, and will need to demonstrate the ability to achieve all elements of the apprenticeship during their programme, including working in a suitable job role.
Fee information
Free to apprentices. This apprenticeship has a 拢27,000 funding band. Small companies may need to make a contribution of 5%; large companies could pay through the apprenticeship levy if they have funds available.
