The City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation is designed for learners who have already achieved a Level 2 electrical qualification and are looking to progress towards a professional career in the electrotechnical industry.
The City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation (8202) builds on existing knowledge and practical skills gained at Level 2. Delivered through evening classes, the course is ideal for those already working in the industry, apprentices seeking additional knowledge, or adult learners looking to advance their technical expertise while balancing work and other commitments.

The programme develops a deeper understanding of electrical systems, installation practices, inspection and testing procedures, fault diagnosis, and current industry regulations. Successful completion supports progression towards industry-recognised qualifications and employment opportunities within the electrical sector.

What next?
Following successful completion of this qualification, learners may progress to:

Employment within the electrical installation industry.

An Electrotechnical Apprenticeship or advanced apprenticeship programme.

NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification.

The Experienced Worker Assessment route (where applicable and supported by industry experience).

Completion of the qualification forms an important step towards achieving recognised industry competence as an electrician.

Entry criteria
A City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation (2365) or equivalent qualification.

Good levels of English and mathematics.

A commitment to completing both practical and theoretical aspects of the course.
