As the UK accelerates towards a greener future, the demand for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure is booming. This Level 3 Award is your gateway to mastering the design and installation of domestic and small commercial EV charging systems.

Whether you're a practicing electrician looking to upskill or a contractor aiming to expand your service offering, this short, focused course delivers the technical know-how and regulatory understanding needed to install EV charging points safely, efficiently, and in line with the latest industry standards.

This qualification is officially recognised as an Electrician Plus qualification, meaning it meets the highest standards set by the industry for competence and professionalism.

鈥 Design Principles: Learn how to plan and design installations for domestic and small commercial settings

鈥 Installation Requirements: Explore supply, earthing, protection, labelling, and risk assessment

鈥 Smart Charging & Energy Storage: Discover how EVs integrate with smart systems and prosumer energy setups

鈥 Inspection, Testing & Commissioning: Ensure installations meet regulatory and safety standards

鈥 Fault Diagnosis & Maintenance: Learn to identify and rectify issues in EVCP systems

鈥 Assessment is via a online multiple-choice exam

What next?
Graduates can progress to:

鈥 City & Guilds Level 4 Award in the Design and Verification of Electrical Installations

鈥 Other CPD qualifications in the Electrotechnical sector

鈥 Registration with OZEV for government-funded EV installations

Entry criteria
To enrol, you must:

鈥 Be aged 18 or over

鈥 Hold a Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification (e.g. C&G 2357, 5357, 2346, 2347, or equivalent)

鈥 Be proficient in designing low-voltage radial power circuits

鈥 Have current knowledge of BS7671 Wiring Regulations and the IET Code of Practice for EV Charging Equipment Installation
