On this course you will have an opportunity to explore many different drawing and painting techniques using a variety of media such as watercolour, acrylic, charcoal and graphite. You will experiment using classical methods as well as contemporary approaches and study a diverse range of artists as inspiration.

This course is tailored to support your individual journey - whether you're new to drawing and painting or looking to build on existing skills. You'll receive constructive guidance from your tutor and peers to help develop your technical ability and creative confidence.

What you'll do:- Explore the creative process behind developing an art project- Work with a range of materials, including pencil, watercolour, pastel, acrylic, and charcoal- Study a variety of artists relevant to each session's focus- Develop core techniques such as line, tone, composition, shape, perspective, colour, and texture- Share and discuss ideas in a supportive group setting- Discover and refine your personal artistic style

What to bring:- A2 or A3 sketchbook or 160gsm cartridge paper- A selection of pencils (e.g. 2B, 4B, 6B)- Eraser and sharpener

Your tutor will advise on any additional materials as the course progresses.No class during half term.

Entry criteria

None required for this course as it accommodates complete beginners or those with prior experience.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.

Fee information

You are expected to provide your own materials, which may cost approximately £30. Please do not buy any materials until your course is confirmed as running.This course/workshop includes a material fee that provides essential resources and hands-on demonstrations, empowering you to achieve your learning goals and master new skills with confidence.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
