Learn to design stunning summer containers with perennials and pollinator-friendly plants. Explore plant selection, colour combos, and care through theory and demos.
鈥 Principles of designing sustainable summer containers鈥 Selecting perennials and pollinator-friendly plants鈥 Understanding plant care needs (sun, soil, and watering requirements)鈥 Combining plants for colour, texture, and structural balance鈥 Choosing suitable containers and affordable options鈥 Demonstration of planting techniques and design ideas

Please note that this is not an RHS qualification course, nor is it affiliated with any of the horticulture programmes delivered at our Common Leys campus. The course is specifically designed for gardening enthusiasts seeking to develop their knowledge and practical skills for personal interest, rather than as a formal professional qualification.

What next?
Continue your gardening journey by joining other workshops or enrolling in a 10-week gardening course, exploring allotment growing, seasonal planting, and sustainable garden design.
Entry criteria
No previous knowledge or experience necessary. All welcome.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.

Fee information
A 拢5 materials fee will cover supplies for the Summer Containers session. Additional materials may be required for practical activities, with some items available for purchase.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
